The fifth annual Rondo Bennington Music Festival took place in the summer of 2003, with great success, at Southern Vermont College in Historic Bennington, Vermont.
Performances included a series of four public concerts at the Everett Mansion, located on the college site, given by gifted students and faculty from the Julliard, Manhattan and Mannes Schools of Music. Many of the musicians are winners of Young Artists Competitions and Gold Medallists of International Competitions.
As a teacher at the Manhattan School of Music, Albert Markov guides young musicians in their studies, whether they aspire to be professional or non-professional musicians. Mr Markov has an unfailing philosophy of self-improvement, which he continually encourages his students to adopt. This stresses the importance of good health as the top priority. Students exercise everyday, have organized mealtimes and a daily work schedule. Study is an essential part of the student's day taking the form of lessons, private practice and/or music workshops. General musical and cultural education is also promoted. This year we visited the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Mr Markov also actively acknowledges the importance of balancing study with socializing and recreational activities.
In the summer of 2004 performances are being arranged at two new venues at The Bennington Museum and Bennington Center for the Arts. This is in addition to performing in the established concert series at the beautiful Everett Mansion.
